Special Desserts in Dongdaemun District, Russia Cake

For those who love exploring hidden gems every time they visit Dongdaemun District, there’s a place you should pay attention to: Russia Cake. This establishment is famous for its special cakes, which have even been featured on the TV show ‘The Master of Life.’ Their signature menu items are the Napoleon Cake and the Medovik Honey Cake. Run by master Morroz Irina, who has been bringing the taste of Russian desserts to Korea for over 20 years, this cafe boasts a modern interior with an exotic, Russian-style ambiance.

Visited on Friday, February 19, 2026, during an outing in Dongdaemun District, Russia Cake was the perfect spot to enjoy a sweet treat after a delicious lunch. After having our sofa reupholstered at the Dongdaemun Market, we decided to try the special desserts here.

Signature Menu of Russia Cake

Russia Cake opens its doors at 12 PM every day, with a variety of desserts displayed. The representative menu items are the ‘Napoleon Cake’ and the ‘Medovik Honey Cake,’ both of which were prominently featured on the ‘The Master of Life’ program.

The Medovik Honey Cake, in particular, is made with honey, cinnamon sticks, and apples, and is meticulously prepared through multiple processes. Approximately 10 types of desserts are available, offering a wide selection. The cafe’s interior is more modern and chic than overtly Russian, and I was able to take photos quietly without disturbing other customers.

Various Drinks and Takeout

A variety of beverage options are also available to complement the cakes. Visitors can enjoy the taste of Russia Cake at home through takeout. On this day, we took home three items: the Medovik Honey Cake, the Napoleon Cake, and the Medovik Chocolate Cake.

Review After Tasting

The Medovik Chocolate Cake we took home was very moist with its layered sheets, and its subtle sweetness was impressive. It’s a flavor that even those who aren’t chocolate fanatics can enjoy, boasting a unique texture different from crepes. However, the other two cakes, when eaten the next day after being stored in a mini-refrigerator, were reported to have lost moisture, resulting in a diminished taste and texture compared to when they were fresh. The Napoleon Cake, in particular, was less crispy and felt crumbly. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to eat the cakes from Russia Cake on the day of purchase.
