Lotte Department Store Jamsil Branch, Review of ‘Meal’ Bakery

On September 7, 2025, I visited the ‘Meal’ bakery, newly opened on the B1 floor of Lotte Department Store in Jamsil, Songpa. Meal, which replaced the former ‘May’s Bread’ space, is a familiar bakery I’ve often visited at the Hyundai Department Store in Samsung Station and the Shinsegae South City branch in Jukjeon. As a regular customer who particularly enjoys their red bean bread and sweet red bean buns, I visited with high expectations for this new Jamsil branch opening.

The Jamsil Lotte Department Store branch of Meal is large, which is great for finding a wide variety of baked goods. This is a take-out only store, opening at 10:30 AM.

A Variety of Breads

A linear bakery display case is placed in the center of the store, with additional displays available in the back. Here, you can find a variety of breads such as mammoth bread, peanut sandwiches, and Sangha Farm castella. The black sesame red bean bun was particularly delicious.

Review of Purchased Breads

Here is an honest review of the breads I purchased. The salt bread has a great buttery flavor and a chewy texture, while the potato ciabatta is plain and good for a light breakfast. The Meal morning roll was incredibly soft and perfectly seasoned, making it delicious even without jam.

The pudding was also good, so I bought it again, though my child said it tasted like herbal medicine. Overall, all the types of bread I bought were broadly appealing and tasted good, and I especially thought it was a bakery where the bread is delicious. However, I was a little disappointed that my personal favorite, the mini red bean bread, was not available. It seems the selection of breads varies slightly by store.
