I’m sharing my experience visiting Nicholas Party’s “Dust” exhibition at Hoam Museum of Art on a day with autumn rain. Thanks to booking tickets a month in advance, I could enjoy the exhibition comfortably, though it was crowded, as expected of its popularity. The journey to the exhibition leads to Hoam Museum of Art located within Everland. It’s good to know in advance that the signage can be a bit sparse, making it slightly difficult to find directly. The path to the museum winds through the beautiful traditional garden, Hee-won, giving a feeling of a pleasant walk.
The exhibition space is divided into two floors, showcasing about 70 works by Nicholas Party, including paintings, sculptures, and specially created pastel murals. The artist draws inspiration from art history, freely referencing elements from various periods and styles to create his unique imagery. His works, particularly those reinterpreting forgotten pastel paintings, present vivid colors, simple forms, and a feeling that is both familiar and strange. Visitors can enjoy searching for various motifs within the artworks, such as frogs, peaches, and landscapes.
