Western Mediterranean Cruise 9 Nights 11 Days Trip: Day 6, Sea Day at Costa Smeralda

Day 6 of the 9-night, 11-day Western Mediterranean cruise from September 8th to 18th, 2023, was a full sea day at Costa Smeralda. The day started leisurely with a late start, accompanied by somewhat blurry photos. A selfie taken from the balcony left something to be desired due to editing issues.

The travel dates were 2023.09.08 – 2023.09.18, and the destination was Costa Smeralda.

Exploring Various Restaurants and the Ship

Breakfast could be enjoyed at restaurants other than the main dining room. Here, they offered a service where omelets and pancakes were brought directly to your table upon order, but the wait time was a bit long, which was a drawback. After breakfast, we began exploring the cruise ship in earnest. Stepping out onto the deck to feel the cool breeze, we noticed a particularly strong presence of foam.

We also watched the outdoor pool and various dance programs, but due to the large crowds, we were content with observing from the sidelines rather than participating directly. On this day, unlike usual, I experienced sudden abdominal pain and had to use a public restroom instead of going back to my cabin. To my surprise, the pretty interior allowed for a mirror selfie.

Lunch and Enjoyable Activities

Lunch was at the sushi restaurant located in the main hall. The all-you-can-eat lunch price of 16 euros was quite reasonable, and we visited based on the recommendation of our tour leader. While it didn’t quite match the taste of sushi in Korea, it was a satisfying meal. During lunch, we watched a show introducing the cruise staff on TV, and we particularly enjoyed refilling our order of eel sushi.

After the meal, we enjoyed the water slides at the pool. Since there weren’t many people, we didn’t have to wait and enjoyed both slides. It felt a bit awkward riding alone at first, but that feeling disappeared after the first ride. We also intended to watch an ice carving performance, but it was already nearly over, so we were only able to see a part of it, which was disappointing.

The Fun of the Casino and Bingo Game

To pass the time, we visited the casino. One of the casino staff members caught my eye because she resembled the famous actress Blake Lively. Afterward, we participated in one of the cruise’s popular programs, the bingo game. With a prize for the winner, it was even more exciting, and various other events were held intermittently.

Participating in the bingo game

Surprisingly, we won an extra bingo card through a raffle, which further immersed us in the bingo game. Although the full bingo was unfortunately won by three people, the bingo game itself was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Dinner and a Disappointing Program

Dinner was served as a course meal, enhanced by wine for a more abundant dining experience. Although I was full from the sushi, the shrimp dish I ordered was very delicious. After dinner, we visited the buffet restaurant for fruit, and the peaches were particularly sweet and tasty, making for a satisfying end.

Although I didn’t participate this day, the headset club party, which many passengers enjoyed, had few photos due to it being a full sea day. The biggest regret was falling asleep early and missing it. Overall, Day 6 was a satisfying conclusion, spent with various activities and leisure time aboard the cruise ship.
