On October 7, 2025, Seoul<\/a> Seongsu-dong<\/a>, the newly opened Gentle Monster House Nowhere Seoul<\/a> was a space that garnered much anticipation even before its opening. The day after the Chuseok holiday, I planned an outing to Seongsu-dong<\/a> with my husband to visit this place. A massive concrete structure stands out uniquely in the Seongsu-dong<\/a> urban landscape, and House Nowhere Seoul<\/a>, which claims to be a ‘space that exists nowhere,’ embodying the brand’s experimental spirit, has finally unveiled itself.<\/p>\n

Exterior Space<\/h2>\n

The building’s exterior, with its massive concrete structure that captures the eye, resembles a scene from an SF movie. Even though we arrived a little after 1 PM, past the opening time of 11 AM, we were able to enter after a waiting time of about 20 minutes. Among the visitors, there were more foreign tourists, especially Westerners, than domestic visitors, creating an exotic atmosphere.<\/p>\n

1st Floor: Project Space & Tamburins<\/h2>\n

Passing through the outdoor space on the left side of the building and entering the first floor, you’ll find the ‘Project Space.’ Here, you can encounter robot sculptures that look like they’re from an SF movie. Additionally, in the Tamburins exhibition hall, you can experience various products such as perfumes and diffusers, and the display shelves themselves feel like works of art. There are more Tamburins products displayed on the third floor, so please keep that in mind.<\/p>\n

Unique Presence: Animatronic Dachshund<\/h2>\n

The first thing that catches your eye at the entrance on the first floor is the giant animatronic dachshund sculpture. It wears a metallic-textured vest, and its ears and brow occasionally move, giving it a lifelike vitality. Even the delicate details on its paws are realized, and the way its ears flutter when touched is awe-inspiring. The shine of its black fur and the excellent detail leave viewers in admiration.<\/p>\n

Photo Experience<\/h3>\n

Next to the dachshund sculpture, a special photo experience space is prepared. Although there is a queue, visitors can strike a pose, and the dachshund’s size changes, allowing for photos together. It’s a fun experience that leaves unforgettable memories.<\/p>\n

2nd Floor: Gentle Monster Eyewear<\/h2>\n

Taking the escalator to the second floor, you can find Gentle Monster’s various sunglasses and glasses. Unique objects resembling spaceships are displayed, and the center part moves up and down. In the ‘Showcase’ area, Bold Collection eyewear is displayed, and you can try on designs you like. The products with unique and distinctive designs catch the eye.<\/p>\n

On the second floor, a unique photo zone is also available. You can sit on a long purple sofa and take pictures with robots. Various sculptures are displayed, including insect-like robots, objects reminiscent of gramophones or morning glories, and a female robot ‘SHE’. In particular, the exhibits inspired by the movie ‘Mune’ create a mystical atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Nuflaat: Reinterpreting Tableware<\/h3>\n

Nuflaat’s tableware offers an experience of viewing an object rather than just its simple function of eating and seeing. It features ingenious designs such as spoons and forks hidden in biscuits, and cutlery holders or vases shaped like shoes and socks. The tableware, designed to resemble a strong red nail collection, adds fun to using it with extended fingers. From elegant designs reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn to products with an impressive combination of steel and red, items to satisfy various tastes are prepared. Additionally, you can find ATiissu, a trendy headwear brand preferred by Gen Z. ATiissu presents hats as artistic objects beyond mere fashion, showcasing unique and distinctive designs. The hats, which look like the tentacles of a parasite, are particularly impressive.<\/p>\n

You can reach the 3rd to 5th floors by elevator. On the 5th floor, NUDAKE TEAHOUSE is located. Nudake has expanded into a new format called ‘Teahouse,’ offering a ‘hip’ tea brand with images and scents infused during the blending process. It was very popular, with a waiting list of 68 teams when booking at the counter. The dessert sets are somewhat expensive, but many people were visiting. There are simple yet beautiful purple tables and chairs.<\/p>\n

More is More: Max Siedentopf Installation Art<\/h2>\n

Outside the building, an installation artwork by artist Max Siedentopf, ‘More is More,’ is on display. Max Siedentopf is an artist gaining attention for his work that ingeniously transforms everyday objects, combining humor and social messages. This collaboration also expands into an experience where the audience can contemplate and participate directly. The artist plans to continue collaborative exhibitions with various artists in the future. Looking at the artwork, I was reminded of an interview where LA Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani mentioned finding luck in trash. The artist’s message that treasures can be found even in trash was impressive.<\/p>\n

The Pinnacle of Brutalist Architecture, Gentle Monster House Nowhere Seoul<\/a><\/h2>\n

When I first saw the completed building, my curiosity about who designed it intensified. Seeing it in person, I was filled with admiration. Not only was the design unique, but the exposed concrete was also impressively smooth. This Brutalist architectural masterpiece, completed in collaboration with architect Kim Chan-joong of The System Lab, has already become a landmark in Seongsu. This 14-story building is the culmination of the experiments Gentle Monster has conducted over the past decade.<\/p>\n

Here, you can see Gentle Monster’s 2025 Pocket Collection, and through the humanoid doll GAENNA, born from a collaboration with Bratz, you can experience a futuristic campaign that transcends reality, combined with a special space featuring giant doll objects.<\/p>\n
