The hagfish “half-and-half” menu and an additionally ordered live octopus dish were prepared, and the basic side dishes were also served generously. However, the taste of the hagfish itself was somewhat disappointing due to the burnt flavor and tough texture characteristic of direct grilling. While it wasn’t as satisfying as expected for a first hagfish experience, it left a desire to try other menu items and a positive impression of the fresh ingredients.

Yeontan Halmae Kkomjangeo · Jagalchi Market

Travel tips

You can enjoy a variety of flavors by ordering the hagfish “half-and-half” menu along with the live octopus dish.

Since the basic side dishes are served generously, you can enjoy them to your heart’s content.

Yeontan Halmae Kkomjangeo · Jagalchi Market

Yeontan Halmae Kkomjangeo · Jagalchi Market

Related Areas/Places

Yeontan Halmae Kkomjangeo

Jagalchi Market

Busan

Busan

Read More from the Original

Although this place advertises 75 years of tradition, there was some confusion as the sign at the time of visit indicated 78 years. The interior of the restaurant was so crowded with customers that it was difficult to take proper interior photos. We ordered the hagfish “half-and-half” and live octopus, and generous side dishes were provided according to the number of people.

The seasoned hagfish, which I tasted for the first time, had a visual similar to chicken feet, but the burnt taste characteristic of direct grilling and a tougher texture than chicken feet made it somewhat different from what I had expected. The salt-grilled version tasted a bit bland, so we ended up mixing it with the seasoned one. Although my first hagfish experience was somewhat disappointing, it sparked a desire to try hagfish elsewhere in the future.

The live octopus we ordered additionally was fresh and delicious, and we enjoyed it so much that we ordered more. Overall, the ingredients were fresh, but my personal judgment on hagfish is still unclear, so I have reserved a conclusion on whether it is a great restaurant. Based on this experience, I am open to revising this review of hagfish later.

Yeontan Halmae is a Busan Jagalchi Market eatery with 75 years of tradition.
