Gangwon Province<\/a> Gangneung<\/a> Located at 63-2 Chodangwon-gil, Chodang-dong, Gangneung-si, 9 Siblings Tofu House is a specialty tofu restaurant that excels in both hangover relief and delicious flavor. It operates from 8 AM to 8 PM, with a break time from 3 PM to 3:30 PM. Please note that it is closed every Thursday.<\/p>\n

This is the perfect place to visit for a hangover cure after a night of heavy drinking. The author was so captivated by photos of their tofu stew that they planned their trip around it. Arriving around 11 AM on a Saturday, there was already a wait due to its popularity. While the restaurant isn’t extremely small, the nature of the dishes means the turnover isn’t fast, so waits can be long.<\/p>\n

The restaurant offers free soybean pulp, which attracts visitors. While waiting, the author enjoyed a drink purchased from a nearby cafe. Be aware that particularly acidic Americanos can be polarizing.<\/p>\n

The interior has about 9 tables, and we were seated at a floor-level table. It can feel a bit cramped when it’s crowded.<\/p>\n

The Moment of Menu Choice<\/h3>\n

Originally, I intended to order the regular tofu stew, but due to the owner’s strong recommendation, I changed my order to the soft tofu stew. The owner’s persuasion was so compelling that it was difficult to refuse. Also, please note that the sikhye (rice punch) ordered alongside was not homemade but a commercially available drink from the refrigerator.<\/p>\n

Generous Side Dishes and Tender Tofu<\/h3>\n

The side dishes were so neat and delicious that I could easily finish a bowl of rice. The half-portion of plain tofu ordered alongside was warm and soft, perfect with a little soy sauce. Although I couldn’t eat much due to my hangover, I would have devoured it instantly if I were feeling well. I felt fortunate to have only ordered half a portion.<\/p>\n

The Ultimate Hangover Cure, Soft Tofu Stew<\/h3>\n

The soft tofu stew, when simmered a bit longer, provides a true hangover relief effect. It’s packed with ingredients like tofu and mushrooms, so it’s bound to be delicious. Scooping it into a bowl and eating it with rice is heavenly. Even without rice, the stew is not too salty, and the tofu itself is satisfying enough to act as a substitute for rice. I highly recommend Gangneung<\/a> as a place I definitely want to revisit when I’m in the area.<\/p>\n

The regular tofu stew also looks promising, with its square-cut tofu, appearing as soft as silken tofu. The smell of the cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew) ordered by another table also smelled excellent. On my next visit, I plan to try other menu items besides the soft tofu stew. I highly recommend 9 Siblings Tofu House as a top-notch soft tofu restaurant in Gangneung<\/a>.<\/p>\n
