Jamsil Lotte World Mall Restaurant Exploration: Enjoying Seafood Jang and Pot Rice at Mipo House
South Korea Jamsil While visiting Lotte World Mall, after ‘Baegun’, the couple’s second choice was ‘Mipo House’. They originally intended to visit Silla Jemyun, a famous restaurant in Gyeongju, but had to turn back due to a waiting list of 58 teams, even arriving 20 minutes after the evening opening. Instead, they visited ‘Mipo House’, a Busan restaurant with its main branch in Haeundae, and fortunately, they were able to get a table after a 10-team wait, within 20 minutes.
Located on the 5th floor of Lotte World Mall, Mipo House was divided into two spaces centered around the counter, boasting a considerable size.

Mipo House: The Originator of Seafood Jang
‘Mipo House’ began as a seafood jang & pot rice specialty restaurant run by a mother and daughter, based on the secret soy sauce recipe from a gejang (marinated crab) restaurant operated by their grandmother since 1976. The restaurant prides itself on its pot rice made with top-quality rice and seasonal ingredients, fresh seafood, and seafood jang aged with a secret fruit soy sauce passed down through three generations.

A Diverse Menu and a Generous Spread
On this day, they ordered one serving of seafood jang (35,000 won) and one octopus and bulgogi pot rice (25,000 won). As pre-meal appetizers, they were served eggplant tangsuyuk, sweet pumpkin tempura, corn salad, and lettuce salad, which were sweet and delicious.

The food arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, and the side dishes were exceptionally generous and well-composed, more so than at typical pot rice restaurants. A total of 7 side dishes were served along with chewy pot rice and a seaweed soup with a noticeable sea urchin aroma and flavor.

Savory Seafood Jang and Special Pot Rice
One serving of seafood jang included 3 scallops, 2 pieces of marinated crab, octopus, shrimp jang, and salmon jang. It was not too salty and rich in umami flavor, with the plump crab and tender octopus being exceptional. The various accompanying side dishes, such as kimchi, salted squid, pickled cucumber, balloon flower root salad, cabbage pickles, dried seaweed, and pickled onions, also paired wonderfully with the seafood jang. Mixing green onions, flying fish roe, egg yolk, and sesame seeds into the pot rice and eating it on dried seaweed doubled the deliciousness.

The husband particularly enjoyed the bulgogi and octopus pot rice, praising the excellent combination of direct-grilled beef bulgogi and spicy stir-fried octopus. After the meal, they could enjoy scorched rice by adding hot water, and the free refills of Dongwon mineral water were also a nice touch.

Overall, it was a satisfying meal with excellent quality and composition, from the appetizers to the main dishes and side dishes. Jamsil There are many great restaurants on the 5th and 6th floors of Lotte World Mall, so a visit is recommended. Wishing good health to all neighbors!
