On Sunday, December 14, 2025, I visited the Blue Elephant Seongsu Flagship Store located in Seoul Seongsu-dong. Blue Elephant is a contemporary eyewear brand symbolizing the creativity of imaginative people, drawing inspiration from various fields such as music, icons, and artists, and reinterpreting them in a modern way. Embracing the creativity of ‘상상가(IMAGINEER)’, Blue Elephant presents unique designs based on inspiration gained through collaborations with muses, icons, and artists.

I visited Seongsu-dong at its opening time of 12 PM. The Gentle Monster building is a landmark and a popular spot, attracting many foreign tourists. Last Sunday, after having lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant and heading to a bakery, I happened to discover a unique building with a large crowd. It was BLUE ELEPHANT.

The giant blue sphere reflected in the building’s windows gave off a mysterious, planet-like impression from afar. Many tourists continuously snapped photos as the sphere changed into various colors. At first, I didn’t know what kind of space it was or what kind of pop-up store was selling there, but following the staff’s guidance, I was able to enter through the side entrance on the right block.

1st Floor: Eyewear Shopping Space

The first floor was a space selling glasses and sunglasses. The displayed glasses were light and had very beautiful designs. Considering Gentle Monster’s high prices, I expected this place to be similar, but surprisingly, they were sold at reasonable prices ranging from 49,900 to 69,900 won. I thought it was a great deal for this quality at this price.

My husband tried on several pairs of glasses and sunglasses, impressed by the quality for the price. The sunglasses offered UV protection, and the glasses also provided UV protection and blue light filtering.

After choosing a product they liked, they would inform the staff of the product number on the inside of the temple, and the staff would write it down on a memo. This memo would then be presented at the counter for purchase. Notably, Blue Elephant offers a discount coupon for first-time members on their official website, which my husband utilized to make his purchase on their site.

Wearing these sunglasses made me imagine seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland.
2nd Floor: Futuristic Botanical Garden Concept Space

The second floor was decorated with a unique interior reminiscent of a futuristic botanical garden. Eyewear was displayed along the sides of a glass tunnel, and the surroundings were covered in plant decor, like a jungle or a botanical garden.

This area also featured color-changing art media installations, adding to the mystical atmosphere. The ceiling and walls were entirely mirrored, creating a unique experience by giving the illusion that people were walking upside down.

Various photo zones were available, making it a great place for visitors to take memorable pictures. The artistic display shelves with blue marble patterns and those made of wooden sculptures were also impressive.

The round glasses I liked suited my face shape well, but I hesitated to buy them because my husband had already bought me three outfits as a birthday gift.

The hemispherical art installation transformed into a K-culture ‘mother-of-pearl’ style at one point, offering another visual spectacle.
3rd Floor: Spacious and Pleasant Cafe Space

The third floor was a spacious and pleasant cafe area. The Americano was priced at a very affordable 2,800 won, making it easy to enjoy coffee without breaking the bank.

Various Bakery Menu Items

The bread selection primarily featured salt bread and looked very appealing. The space designed with a wooden tunnel feel, to match the glass tunnel on the floor below, was also impressive.

Although I couldn’t take photos due to the crowd, there was also a tiered seating area. However, the lack of a good view from the window was a bit disappointing.

The mugs were out of stock, so I received my coffee in a paper cup, but my husband commented that the taste was good for the price.

Recently, eyewear companies are increasingly promoting themselves and evolving into complex cultural spaces. The Blue Elephant Seongsu Flagship Store is leading a new shopping culture with its impressive space, unique attractions, photo zones, shopping, and cafe. If you are planning a outing to Seongsu-dong, I highly recommend visiting.
