A Review of Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch, a Great Makchang Restaurant
Daegu Daegu Jung District Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch, located at 46 Jungang-daero 81-gil, is a recommended spot for enjoying delicious pork makchang without any unpleasant smell. We originally planned to visit a famous restaurant in the makchang alley, but due to extremely mixed reviews and concerns about a porky odor, we chose this place instead. Since I’m sensitive to meat smells, finding a makchang restaurant without odor was important.
Fortunately, there was no waiting when we visited, and the dining hall, photographed after our meal, wasn’t crowded. The amusing posters displayed around the store made us feel how passionate the owner and staff are about their establishment.
Menu and Special Features of Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch
Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch offers a diverse menu, and they were running a receipt review event. However, the Eclipse didn’t appeal to us much, so we didn’t participate.
One of the biggest advantages here is the unlimited ramen refill. A bowl of ramen would be the perfect choice when the richness of the makchang starts to feel a bit heavy.
Delicious Pork Makchang and Spicy Stir-fried Chicken Feet
We started by ordering two servings of pork makchang. The initial portion was quite generous, and the clean, white interior of the makchang was impressive. When grilled to a golden brown, it was crispy on the outside and savory on the inside – truly delicious. There was absolutely no pork smell, and it was the best pork makchang I’ve ever had. It was meatier than the famous chain restaurant Taeyoung Saeng Makchang, and it didn’t shrink much even after grilling, making it enjoyable to eat.
The spicy stir-fried chicken feet we ordered required us to grill them ourselves, but the price was reasonable at 12,000 won for one portion (180g). The spiciness wasn’t as intense as we expected. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of the Jjajangmyeon, but I was touched by the kindness of the owner and staff. When they saw me waiting by the ramen machine, one of the staff members offered to make it for me and encouraged me to relax and enjoy my meal.
Yeongnam Makchang Jongno Branch, with its delicious food and exceptional kindness, is a place I would unhesitatingly recommend when traveling to Daegu or when needing to suggest a great makchang restaurant to a friend.
