Sokcho Sokcho Bongpo Meoguri House, located at 223 Yeongranghaean-gil, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, is a large sashimi restaurant famous for its scale and generous side dishes. We visited this place on the recommendation of my parents during a day trip to Sokcho. Despite the forecast of rain, the sunny weather allowed us to have an even more enjoyable time. Bongpo Meoguri House boasts a spacious parking lot and an overwhelming presence, making its scale apparent even to first-time visitors.

Spacious Area and Various Amenities
The interior of the restaurant seems to utilize the first floor for group reservations, while the second floor provides dining space. A queuing system is also available, but it was not in use at the time of our visit. Additionally, various dried seafood products are sold, and waiting areas and takeout services are provided to enhance customer convenience.
Generous Assorted Sashimi and Diverse Side Dishes
Despite the early morning hour, the restaurant was bustling with customers. We ordered the assorted sashimi (for 4 people). Along with the ordered assorted sashimi, basic dishes like assorted cold raw fish soup and abalone porridge were provided, along with a truly large number of side dishes. As expected from a famous restaurant, neat and delicious side dishes were served continuously. In particular, fried items and jeonbyeong (savory pancakes) were also prepared, so we were already full before the main dish even arrived.
Thick Sashimi and Spicy Fish Stew
The main dish, assorted sashimi, seemed to consist of flatfish, rockfish, and sea bream, and the sashimi was sliced thickly, providing an excellent chewy texture. The spicy fish stew served at the end initially tasted a bit bland, but after boiling it thoroughly, it had a deep and spicy flavor that was excellent. It was not too salty and was a good way to finish the meal.
Satisfying Meal and Linked Cafe Discount
We were so full that we ordered a cider to help with digestion. Bongpo Meoguri House also offers cafe discounts, which we saw on the first floor, so the ability to enjoy coffee right after the meal without having to travel far was appealing. Bongpo Meoguri House, famous as a great place to eat in Sokcho, proved why it’s famous once we visited. Due to the generous spread and ample portions, it might be a bit much for parties of 4 or fewer, but it is an excellent place to visit with family or friends to enjoy delicious seafood. We left feeling very full and satisfied.
