Anguk Station/Jeongdong-gil
A Sensual Cafe & Select Shop Embraced by Trumpet Vines
We introduce Manok Anguk, where beautiful trumpet vines embrace the building instead of ivy. The Anguk/Jeongdong-gil street is perfect for a treasure hunt-like outing, filled with select shops, old stores, restaurants, and cafes, no less than the old Seochon. After enjoying rooibos tea and Tumen at Balance, we visited Manok Anguk for a cup of coffee.

Signature Menu

As a specialty shop for madeleines and financiers, they offer a wide variety.

I ordered a decaffeinated cafe latte, and the friendly service from the staff was impressive.

The view of the trumpet vines cascading down, seen through the window between the select shop and the cafe, creates a picturesque and unique atmosphere.

A large rug hung on the stairs leading to the second floor adds a cozy, home-like feel.

I took a few photos, trying to avoid other customers.

The sensual interior and the use of stylish props are remarkable.

We moved to the 2nd-floor select shop connected to the cafe. Another unknown space unfolds, leading to the wooden floor.

Furniture, tableware

Light fixture! Unique table

Tableware

The pot lid I casually opened was not as heavy as I expected.

Simple cutlery

Modern Korean tableware with a white porcelain feel, like a moon jar.

Antique furniture

Stone-like teacups

Unconventionally pleated stand lamp

Plates that are a perfect match for my taste
There were so many stylish living and kitchen items that it was enjoyable just to window shop.

I tried to sit at a table with a view of the Hanok, but another customer had already taken the spot.

Reluctantly, I drank my decaffeinated latte at a table where I could see the backs of office workers. It was a delicious latte with a deep body, between medium and dark roast, with no acidity, a rich flavor, and a hint of nuttiness.

Decorations, accessories, stationery, gifts/merchandise

There were window seats with a Hanok view on the first floor as well, but the chairs looked somewhat uncomfortable.

This is the side view of the Manok building. It might look a bit shabby at first glance, but in person, it has a modern and charming feel.
I want to revisit in July-August when the trumpet vines are in full bloom to try their coffee and financiers. If you are planning an outing to Anguk, Bukchon, or Jeongdong-gil, be sure to visit Manok for a cup of coffee and a look around the stylish select shop.
