Salzburg Salzburg Salzburg Salzburg The 2-night, 3-day trip to Hallstatt with Austria Salzburg was filled with beautiful scenery and rich cultural experiences. From the historical sites of Salzburg to the picturesque landscapes of Hallstatt, this journey provided unforgettable memories.
Starting in Salzburg
The train journey from Graz to Salzburg was comfortable. After a long journey with expensive snacks, we arrived at Salzburg station and solidified our travel plans by pre-booking our train tickets to Hallstatt for the next day. The accommodation, while beautiful from the outside, felt more like a compact hotel room on the inside.

Is it just me, or is the proportion of my photos increasing as I write more travel posts?

We traveled by train again. I bought snacks because I was bored during the long journey, but they were quite expensive.
Exploring Salzburg City

After arriving at Salzburg Station, we pre-booked our train tickets to Hallstatt for the next day. Since the bus was a period ticket, we only bought tickets for the REX train, which required a transfer.

The accommodation where we stayed for 2 nights in Salzburg was very beautiful from the outside.

The interior was also pretty, but the space felt a bit cramped.
Exploring Local Restaurants: Koreasküche HIBISKUS

The Korean restaurant ‘Hibiskus’, located near our accommodation, had a long line even when we arrived right after their break time. It was filled with both Korean and foreign customers, which made us feel it was a popular spot. As expected, the taste was excellent.
Strolling through Mirabell Garden

After our meal, we visited the nearby Mirabell Garden. The spacious and green garden was beautiful, and it was even better because it was quiet, unlike in Korea.

The uniquely shaped trees were impressive. It was a shame that wearing a hip pack inside my clothes made my stomach look bigger.
Attractions in Salzburg

Mozart’s Birthplace was not as special as I expected. It was even more surprising to find a supermarket on the first floor.
Salzburg Starbucks and Souvenir Shopping

Salzburg I bought a mug at the Salzburg Starbucks, which had a wide variety of desserts, at a friend’s request. The desserts seemed a bit different from those at Korean Starbucks.

I hesitated to buy anything at the famous chocolate shop because the prices were high.

At ‘Manner’, a famous souvenir shop popular with travelers to Austria, I liked the merchandise more than the wafer-like snacks. It was a shopping experience that left me with some regrets.
Salzburg Cathedral and Mozartplatz

Mozartplatz, visited late in the day, was quiet and seemed to be under construction with barricades.

The souvenir shop where I intended to buy magnets had closed early, which was disappointing. However, I enjoyed looking at the beautiful mannequins while exploring the city.
Dinner: L’Osteria Salzburg

For dinner, I had a Mozartkugel, and it seemed like they put more alcohol in it than in Korea. 😵🍸

Journey to Hallstatt
The next morning, we headed to Hallstatt. We intended to take bus 150 from Salzburg station, but we only realized later that we could take it directly from the bus stop in front of our accommodation. Haha.

The journey by bus 150, followed by a train transfer in Bad Ischl, was filled with beautiful scenery. The views reflected in the bus window were almost too much to take in with just our eyes.

We got a little lost at Bad Ischl station, but we boarded the train by following other travelers. We spent time taking selfies on the train.

I kept taking selfies on the train. The photos looked okay when I took them, but many of them I didn’t like upon review.

When we arrived at Hallstatt Station, the platform was only one on each side, which was confusing for our return trip.

We purchased round-trip ferry tickets for 7 euros at the terminal and boarded. The snow-capped mountains in the distance were truly beautiful.

The sunlight was strong, making it hard to open my eyes, but I tried not to frown.

Upon arriving in Hallstatt, we checked the return ferry schedule. Since we could take any ferry, we had flexibility with our schedule.

Hallstatt Salt Mine Viewing Platform and Salt Mine
Hallstatt Salt Mine Viewing Platform

The view of Hallstatt from the viewing platform was breathtaking and could not be fully captured in photos. I would have regretted it if I hadn’t come here.

We had a meal at a restaurant with a great view, but the freshwater fish dish was too fishy, which was a shame. I remember it as a place with only a good view.
Hallstatt Salt Mine

The gorilla rabbit doll I bought in Rome was also in Hallstatt.

We didn’t have time for the mine tour, so we only bought round-trip tickets for the lift.

Salt tasting was available at the souvenir shop on the way to the lift, and small quantities could be purchased as gifts.

The lift goes up to 840 meters and is fast, which was a bit scary.

The view from the Salt Mine viewing platform was absolutely fantastic. It was much more impressive than seeing it from below.

The end of the viewing platform looked a bit precarious but was sturdy. It was also a little scary.

We enjoyed a beer while admiring the beautiful view. I felt like I was running out of things to say.

On the way back, I bought a visually appealing pastry, and the cream was so delicious that I recommend it as a snack.

I was disappointed to learn about this place just before leaving.

My enthusiasm waned, and I just wanted to rest, thinking about it while looking at my phone.

My blood sugar dropped, so I ate the chocolate I bought the day before.</figure>

Returning to Bad Ischl Station, we boarded bus E on the way to Salzburg.

I passed out from exhaustion after the long journey.
Last Dinner

On our last night, we ended the day with a glass of beer. It tasted incredibly good after a lot of walking. 🍻👍👍 I think I know why I gained weight on this trip.
