The scenery seen from the train on the way to Salzburg added to the excitement despite the long journey. At Salzburg Station, after buying expensive snacks, I prepared for the next day’s journey by pre-booking my train ticket to Hallstatt. After settling into the beautifully designed accommodation, I had a satisfying meal at the nearby restaurant Koreasküche HIBISKUS and then strolled through Mirabell Garden. The lush and tranquil garden offered a different charm from Korea, and I had a great time taking photos in front of uniquely shaped trees.
Salzburg Salzburg Mozart’s Birthplace was a bit disappointing from the outside, but I bought a mug at the Starbucks, which had a wide variety of desserts, as a favor for a friend. I considered buying gifts at famous chocolate shops and souvenir stores but hesitated due to the prices. I enjoyed the city’s atmosphere by visiting Salzburg Cathedral and Mozartplatz. In the evening, I ended the day with a Moscow Mule at Osteria Salzburg.
The next morning, the journey to Hallstatt had an unexpected twist. I only later realized that I could have taken bus number 150 directly from the stop in front of my accommodation. The transfer process in Bad Ischl, changing to a train, was naturally resolved with other travelers. The scenery outside the bus window was so beautiful that it was hard to take it all in, and I found myself wishing Korea was a larger country. Arriving at Hallstatt Station and taking a boat from the pier to the village felt like stepping into a fairy tale. The view of Hallstatt from the viewing platform, in particular, offered a感動 that photos could not capture.
I enjoyed grilled fish at a restaurant with a good view, but the fishy smell was a bit disappointing. At the Hallstatt Salt Mine, I purchased a round-trip ticket for the lift to ascend to the viewing platform. The view from 840 meters high was simply breathtaking. I also explored the souvenir shop where salt tasting was available, and the experience of sitting precariously on the edge of the viewing platform with a beer was special. On the way back, I enjoyed delicious bread, both visually and taste-wise, as a snack. Every moment in Hallstatt remains an unforgettable memory.
