Review of Cafe Tears, a Dessert Cafe in Suwon Geumgok-dong

Introducing Cafe Tears, a charming dessert cafe located in Suwon Geumgok-dong. This is the only independent cafe I’ve settled on in the Homaesil neighborhood, aside from large franchise cafes, and it’s a place I often think of, especially for its delicious desserts. I visited once about 4 years ago, so I decided to visit again.

Unique Coffee Menu and Various Desserts

Suwon roasting Cafe Tears offers a diverse coffee menu with eye-catching, unique names. I try a new menu every time I visit, and the signature menu is a must-try. This time, a coffee and whiskey menu called ‘악마와 키스를…?’ caught my eye, and since it was recommended by the owner, I definitely want to try it on my next visit.

Despite its small size, there was a considerable variety of desserts. I visited late and ordered two desserts.

While waiting after ordering, I looked around the cafe. The white interior made it easy to take photos in front of the full-length mirror. Even though it was a weekday evening, there were quite a few customers.

Signature Cream Mocha and Highly Praised Basque Cheesecake

First, I tried the signature menu, the Cream Mocha. It was visually very appealing, and when I stirred and drank it with the provided spoon, the rich chocolate flavor was exquisite. I highly recommend it to those who like chocolate with over 72% cacao.

For dessert, I chose the Basque Cheesecake and the Pig Bar Rice Cake Cookie. The Basque Cheesecake, in particular, is indescribably delicious. It’s served straight from the refrigerator, and its cool, moist texture, as if slightly frozen, was truly the best. It’s my number one must-order dessert whenever I come here, and it sells out quickly if you don’t come early. It’s a taste I want to actively recommend to others.

The Pig Bar Rice Cake Cookie strongly reminded me of the taste of my favorite Pig Bar crunch bar, and the jam and chewy rice cake in the center combined to create a chewy yet addictive flavor. It wasn’t dry, so it suited my palate, even though I don’t usually enjoy snacks. I think it would be even more delicious with an iced Americano.

I highly recommend Cafe Tears to anyone who wants to enjoy delicious desserts and coffee in Homaesil, or to those looking for a date cafe in Suwon Geumgok-dong!
