The Coffee Seongsu: A Global Coffee Brand from Brazil, First Korean Branch
Seongsu-dong On a scorching summer day, with fewer visitors and tourists heading to Seongsu-dong for outings, we visited The Coffee Seongsu after having lunch at Anhongmao (formerly Mao) and purchasing bagels from Betong Playgshop. Located in a triangle between Ttukseom Station and Seoul Forest Station, this spot opens at 10 AM and operates as a takeout-only establishment.
Inspired by Japan’s takeout coffee culture, ‘The Coffee’ started in Brazil in 2017 and now operates stores in 24 countries worldwide, including Australia, Spain, and France. The Coffee Seongsu is the brand’s first branch in Korea and opened in May. It exudes a natural atmosphere with its gabled roof and brick interior. With limited table space, seating is confined to window seats and outdoor areas.

Order and Menu
Orders are placed via a screen, and it was disappointing that there were no decaffeinated options. Be cautious when ordering, as customers sometimes mistakenly enter their phone number instead of the chime bell number. On one side of the store, simple merchandise like eco-bags is displayed alongside large cookies.
A female foreign barista was working, and we also took photos of the espresso machine used for brewing. The ordered drinks were ready in about 5 minutes.
Drink Taste Evaluation
Due to the hot weather, my husband, who usually enjoys hot Americano, ordered an iced Americano, and we also ordered an iced cafe latte. The cafe latte, ordered with one shot of espresso because decaf was unavailable, was a bit weak but satisfying with its well-balanced flavor. (We recommend two shots.) My husband’s iced Americano also had a slight acidity but was rated as delicious.
