Ansan Jungang-dong Restaurant: Hongdukkae Kalguksu Visit Review
Gyeonggi Province Ansan Jungang-dong ‘Hongdukkae Kalguksu’, located at 9 Yesuldaehak-ro, Danwon-gu, Bobae Plaza, is a Kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) specialty restaurant that has been loved by Ansan citizens for a long time. I visited this place, introduced by an acquaintance who had been a regular for over 10 years. It is a popular restaurant located at Gyeonggi Province Ansan, bustling with customers during lunchtime. We were lucky to get the last available seats.

Diverse Menu and Generous Portions
Looking at the menu at Hongdukkae Kalguksu, the signature dish, Shabu Kalguksu, can be ordered for one person. However, please note that barley rice is served instead of fried rice. We ordered two servings of Clam Kalguksu without hesitation.

After ordering, basic side dishes and barley rice were served. Mixing it with the gochujang provided on the table was enough to whet our appetites. Although made with simple ingredients, the taste was excellent, and the barley rice alone felt filling. As they say, kimchi at a kalguksu place is always good, and the kimchi here was also superb.

Another characteristic of this place is that the kalguksu is not served in one large bowl but individually. This is good for hygiene and offers the convenience of enjoying it without the hassle of scooping from a communal pot.

Refreshing Broth and Abundant Clams
The portion of kalguksu was so generous that it felt like it would never end. The broth was not salty and was refreshing, so we could drink it straight from the bowl without feeling overwhelmed. There were also plenty of clams, enough to fill our rice bowls with their shells.

After the meal, we enjoyed a sweet dessert from a nearby tanghulu shop, making for a perfect finish. Hongdukkae Kalguksu is a place that satisfies in terms of taste, portion size, and price. We highly recommend it as an Ansan Jungang-dong restaurant, perfect for visiting with family, friends, or partners.
