Busan Gijang Restaurant
[Gijang Kkeutjip]
Last month, I visited to help my husband move into his accommodation in Ulsan. The main branch is a local-style restaurant located at the very end of Gijang, as the name suggests, but we visited the Ilgwang branch, which was built in a modern style.

Opens at 10 AM

The atmosphere felt stylish right from the entrance.

Reservations are essential!
We made a reservation via the Catch Table app from our car, and upon arrival, we completed the check-in authentication. Thanks to our reservation time, we were able to enter immediately.

Inside the restaurant, there were two spacious halls on the left and right, and my husband and I were assigned seats in the right hall.
[Menu]

Special Abalone Porridge (for 2 people)
At 35,000 won per person, we ordered the generous abalone porridge.

On the table, there was a basket covered with a pretty cloth.

Inside the basket, side plates, water cups, and wet wipes were neatly arranged.
[Self-Bar]

You could conveniently refill side dishes at the self-bar right next to it.
About 10 minutes after ordering, a table full of generous side dishes arrived in a basket.

I was surprised by the sheer number of dishes.

The sweet and sour mulhoe whetted our appetites.

The spicy cockle salad was delicious mixed with rice.

In the center, a fresh assorted seafood platter was prepared. We could taste scallops, raw abalone, sea cucumber, sea squirt, and seaweed, one piece per person, and everything was fresh.

The freshly made green onion kimchi had a unique and rich seasoning that was excellent.

The aged kimchi was as delicious as homemade kimchi.

The fermented flatfish sashimi was also a delicacy.

My husband really enjoyed the crispy seaweed crisps.

The sea mustard, which I hadn’t tasted in a long time, was a nostalgic side dish full of the scent of the sea.

The bossam topped with sliced onions could be enjoyed softly with a soy-based sauce.

All the side dishes were delicious without any shortcomings. They suited our palates perfectly, as we are originally from Busan.

Grilled Abalone
The abalone, grilled on skewers, could be enjoyed with its innards.

It was meticulously scored and cooked to perfection.
[Pressure Cooker Appears]

Finally, the star of the day, the abalone porridge, made its appearance.

The abalone porridge, packed with abalone, had a deep greenish-blue color due to the innards.

The abalone porridge, served in a fairly large soup bowl, was enough for two bowls per person. The rich and deep flavor was exquisite. Many people at the next table were packing their leftover porridge, but my husband and I finished it all without leaving a drop. We felt as full as if we had been to a buffet, but it felt like we had been properly treated. I believe this is a restaurant where you would receive many compliments if you brought your parents. I recommended this place to a colleague living in Busan and told them to definitely visit for our next get-together.

This is a view of the hall on the opposite side.

[Waiting Area]

After finishing our meal, we walked towards the waiting area building on the right. If you were to visit this place solely for the abalone porridge, some people might find it strange at first. My husband had the same reaction initially. However, once you taste the abalone porridge at Gijang Kkeutjip Ilgwang Branch, your opinion will change.

I heard that many restaurants with this concept have opened in Busan, but customers who have experienced Gijang Kkeutjip will keep coming back to this place.
[Parking]

The parking attendant kindly guided us. There is also a parking lot in front of the building.

There is also a large free parking lot on the beach across the street. I highly recommend it to those living near Busan or visiting for travel. I regret not knowing about it sooner, as I would have visited frequently during every trip to Busan. I hope all my neighbors stay healthy.
