On a rainy day, instead of the originally planned main branch, we visited Songhwasan Sidodakmyeon Branch 2, which we discovered by chance. After waiting for about 40 minutes, we were seated, and were served peanuts and pickled cabbage as basic side dishes. Orders were placed via a QR code attached to the table.
Although there was no Harbin beer here, we ordered dodak noodles, tomato and egg rice, and xiaolongbao along with Tsingtao beer. The dodak noodles, in particular, were praised for their thick noodles and chewy texture, similar to malatang but with a deep meat broth flavor. Adding vegetables was also mentioned as satisfactory.
The tomato and egg rice was surprisingly not too sweet and had an addictive flavor that made us keep eating. The xiaolongbao had an excellent rich broth. For a friend who doesn’t like meat, we also ordered shrimp and asparagus dumplings, which had a light and healthy taste, though the xiaolongbao was personally preferred. We highly recommend Songhwasan Sidodakmyeon Branch 2 as a great place to eat near Konkuk University Station, emphasizing that it’s worth the long wait.
