Anmok Beach Pig Marrow Soup

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, during a trip to Busan Gwangalli, I visited a renowned pig marrow soup restaurant called Anmok Beach. This establishment, recognized by the 2024 Michelin Guide, is located at F1963 and I made a reservation through Catchtable. Despite an 11 AM reservation, we ended up waiting for a staggering 3 hours for our actual entry. It was an unprecedented waiting time, but to pass the time, we grabbed a quick bite of tteokbokki and squid tempura at Darizip, a place just 5 minutes away.

A New Experience with Pig Marrow Soup, the Signature of Busan

Pig marrow soup, the representative dish of Busan, was not to my taste when I lived in Busan, and I wasn’t aware of its fame as I didn’t eat meat. However, my experience at Anmok Beach completely changed my perception of pig marrow soup.

Reservations will be canceled 7 minutes after being called.

Anmok Beach No Weekend Break Time

There is no break time on weekends, and many customers waited until the end without canceling their reservations despite the long wait. My husband and I were among them.

Anmok Beach Bib Gourmand Certification

Michelin Guide Selected, Anmok Beach’s Pig Marrow Soup

Bib Gourmand
Restaurants offering excellent food at reasonable prices in a friendly atmosphere.

Featured in the Michelin Guide Busan 2024, Anmok Beach presents a new form of pig marrow soup, different from the one we typically remember. It’s not just a superficial change; it offers a remarkably deep flavor. Within the unique aroma of pig marrow soup, there’s an intriguing charm that reminds one of other Korean soup dishes. This restaurant, differentiating itself from numerous famous establishments in Busan, the heartland of pig marrow soup, gives the impression that its cuisine is constantly evolving and developing. While you can add chili paste or salted shrimp according to personal preference, I recommend trying this place’s pig marrow soup in its original flavor.

Ambiance and Ordering System

U-shaped Bar Table
Even after being called, we waited about 5 minutes in the indoor waiting area. The restaurant has a capacity of about 15 people, which helped us understand why the turnover rate isn’t high. The interior was clean, and the customer service was systematic.

Anmok Beach Suyuk (Boiled Pork Slices)

The appetizing-looking suyuk caught my eye.

Anmok Beach Foreign Customers

While waiting in the waiting area, we also saw a foreign YouTube filming crew. They were a family, and the person who appeared to be the mother was passionately filming, which was impressive, suggesting she might be a food influencer.

Anmok Beach Pig Marrow Soup

Three types of basic side dishes were provided.

Anmok Beach Pig Marrow Soup Meat

The broth contained meat and green onions, and a slight greasiness was noticeable.

Anmok Beach Pig Marrow Soup Pepper

The pepper was soft and tender.

Anmok Beach Green Onion Kimchi

Green Onion Kimchi

Anmok Beach Kimchi

The radish and cabbage kimchi had a clean taste. Side dish refills are free; place your empty plate on a rock, and they will refill it.

[Pig Ramen]

Anmok Beach Pig Ramen

The menu name made me smile. It’s usually called Tonkotsu Ramen, but calling it ‘Pig Ramen’ in Korean was amusing. 🐖 It contained chashu, wood ear mushrooms, green onions, and house-made noodles.

Anmok Beach Pig Ramen Garlic Added

My husband added 2 cloves of garlic.

Anmok Beach Pig Ramen Garlic Added

I added 1 clove of garlic.

Anmok Beach Pig Ramen Noodles

The thickness of the noodles was just to my liking. I used to avoid pork bone broth due to a past experience with enteritis after eating pork noodles in Jeju Island, but here, I ate it without any aversion and found it delicious, with no ill effects. Despite having already eaten at Darizip, I finished the entire bowl in no time. My husband regretted not ordering a large portion and kept thinking about it after returning to our accommodation, regretting not getting it to go. He praised the pig marrow soup as ‘no.1’ for its clean and savory taste without any gamey odor. Despite the epic wait time, if I visit Busan again, I have a 100% intention to revisit.

Anmok Beach Sungnyung (Scorched Rice Water)

They served sungnyung as a post-meal drink, which was well-brewed and savory.

Anmok Beach Michelin Certification Mark

Overall Review and Visit Information

The Michelin certification mark was subtly engraved in a small red square frame, designed like a white ceramic plate. As a Michelin-selected restaurant, Anmok Beach provided a highly satisfying experience. For your trip to Busan Gwangalli, I recommend making a reservation through Catchtable, visiting Gwangalli Beach, and then heading over. Stay healthy!
