I visited Haidilao Hot Pot Seocho Branch around 5 PM on a weekday after making a reservation through Catch Table. Due to a longer-than-expected wait time, I spent some time nearby before being seated. The restaurant was very spacious and had a well-equipped waiting area. There were reviews saying the snacks provided while waiting were delicious.
When ordering, I combined four types of soup: clear broth, tomato soup, mala soup, and ginseng chicken soup, which turned out to be an excellent choice. It was particularly effective to neutralize the spiciness of the mala soup with the tomato soup and then cleanse the palate with the ginseng chicken soup. The ‘Yeongji Sauce’ I made myself at the self-serve bar was satisfyingly delicious, despite being a peanut sauce, and I plan to try the ‘Geonhee Sauce’ on my next visit.
I opted for the unlimited drink refill, but I couldn’t drink much because I was already full. The chopstick-twirling skill I saw in the video was harder and took longer than expected, so I eventually gave up. Lastly, the thinly sliced beef, mushrooms, and chewy noodles (presumed to be New Jeans noodles) that I added at the end were great for discovering new delicious ingredients. Thanks to my friend who visited with me, I was able to make good menu choices, and I recommend visiting with someone who is good at choosing menus if it’s your first time.
Haidilao Hot Pot Seocho Branch is located between Gangnam District and Sinnonhyeon stations, but it can be difficult to find due to the restaurant’s name. The prices are high, making it difficult to visit frequently, but I intend to revisit about once a quarter for a splurge on a special occasion. However, I added that I would only visit when Catch Table waiting is available.
